Jeff's Lyrics

In addition to writing children's poetry,
I also have written some song lyrics.

In July, 2008, Sergio Wals released a CD entitled "Michael Closed the Bathroom Door." All of the songs are made from poems I have written, and I even perform on some of the songs. You can purchase the CD by clicking here. You can download individual songs at Dig Station by clicking here.

If you just want to listen, you can hear several of my poems for kids as songs
on my Songramp web page. The links are below.

"A Spirited Denial" is performed by Alan Johnston:

Several sets of lyrics have been made into songs by my friends Bobby and Cherie Maestas.

Our first song together, "Alana's Eyes" was inspired by the tragic events that happened at the Beslan School in Russia in September 2005, and the specific story of a woman who had to leave her daughter Alana behind at the school in order to save her baby.

You can hear "Alana's Eyes" at

Our other songs are

"She Says."

"Ride." I 'sing" a bit in the background at the end of this one. Fortunately, there was a large group of us, so my terrible voice is difficult to hear.

"(You're Not Like Other Guys) You're Worse."

"I Drank the Fifth"

"Two Martini Life"

Alex Stangl, who does a great job with "Nobody Knows Where Our Bus Driver Goes," also worked on two other sets of lyrics I wrote:

"Every Day With You"

"The American and the Brit"
